Instructor Development Course

Description
The Instructor Development Course (IDC) prepares students to become professional Scuba instructors through an intense yet fun and rewarding training program. The first third of the course certifies students to become Assistant Instructors and the last part of the course prepares you to attend the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). Once you pass the IE you will be an Open Water Scuba Instructor. Not only will you be well trained to do well at IE, you will also learn how to be a successful instructor in real life. The course will be taught by an experienced and well-respected PADI Course Director and also will be staffed by helpful IDC Staff Instructors.

Duration and Schedule
The course usually takes three weeks to complete. Please see our monthly class calendar for the next course dates.

Prerequisites
  • PADI Divemaster or leadership-level certification with a recognized recreational diver training organization
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months
  • Certified diver for six months
  • EFR Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months
  • Submit documentation of qualifying certifications for entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership level, as necessary
